Foiling on Fabric Workshop with Fiber Adventures

Fabulous rainbow foiling effect was achieved here using a stencil.
Rose achieves a great result using the stamp method.

Sara too achieve a desirable result with stamps and leaves.

Adhesive has dried and it's time to apply the foils

Once again the hair dryer comes in handy in drying the adhesive

Layering of foil colors

Adhesive only on a swatch of black linen

Layers of foil are starting to bring this piece to life.

Black linen, stencil and layered foils in gold and red - Outstanding work!

Crazy Clutch project in process with two foiled features!

Simply Stunning! Blue Bird and Butterfly!

Flour Paste Resist Technique for Fabric Design

Video of student results using the Flour past resist techinque.  She thought it would be "icky" but now that she's rinsing it she thinks it's NICE!

Photos below are from the flour paste resist workshop.

Flour Paste is dried, paint has been applied, it still needs rinsing.
Rinsing begins . . .
Drying the wet paste with the help of a hair dryer.
We had a fabulous large work room . . . this is just half of it.
More hair dryer assistance
More batter needed.
It kind of looks like cooking school.
Batter has been applied to the fabric and impressions and marks applied.
More batter applications

Creating patterns in the batter while it's wet.
Making Marks!
Brayers and Batter
Lots of chatter and giggles

Anticipation!
Two heads are better than one?
I wish I had close ups of these - they're fabulous!
Great results!

Fiber Adventures Weekend a Success!

This is the building we held our classes in. No snow the first day of the workshop.

Our WELCOME banner on the front door.

Dining Room where we held our opening reception on Friday evening.

This is just one of the three spacious work rooms we utilized during our stay.

The snow decided to join us.

The weather remained balmy for a Wisconsin winter. Just another layer of beauty to the landscape.
We stayed toasty inside!
And our students were INSPIRED! This is a soy batik piece, the wax has not yet been washed out and even though it's not finished it's already a stunning piece of work!

We will be posting more student work, videos and Fiber Adventures from this workshop in the next few days so stay tuned!
