Jamie Kalvestran and Louise Schotz

An accomplished product designer, published illustrator and with three design patents to her name, Jamie Kalvestran is bringing her inspirational designs into textile, quilting, home fashions and personal accessories. A graduate of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Jamie holds a bachelor of fine arts degree in product design. Jamie's professional design career spans over 20 years and includes designing award winning toys at Tonka and Manhattan Toy, a stint as a costume designer at the The Children's Theater Company in Minneapolis, Minnesota. An experienced quilter Jamie has developed a first hand appreciation for textile design. Jamie is currently the CEO of Kalvestran, Inc. and markets her original sewing patterns under the Scrap-bags™ label. Today she offers her original Scrap-bags™ patterns through independently owned specialty retail quilt and fabric shops, as well as online, in both printed and downloadable formats. Following a career teaching high school chemistry, Louise Schotz currently teaches a wide variety of fiber arts, quilting and jewelry classes in her studio in Irma, WI, at the University of Wisconsin's School of the Arts at Rhinelander, WI and selected quilt shops.  She continues to travel the country to study with leaders in the quilting industry, most recently Nancy Crow and Jane Dunnewold.  
Her quilts have been exhibited in Wisconsin, Chicago, Houston and 
Paducah, KY as well as in traveling 
exhibits through the Professional Art Quilters Alliance.  She has received a wide variety of awards for her work as well as her teaching.

As a team, Jamie and Louise are energized and inspired by each other.  Coming to the present by very different paths provides them different perspectives on each project they pursue.  The old phrase ‘ the total is equal to more than the sum of it’s parts’ definitely applies here.
